Welcome to Destination Destiny

Knowledge is good, but there is a vast difference between “knowledge” (having the facts) and “wisdom” (applying those facts to life). We may amass knowledge, but without wisdom our knowledge is useless. We must learn how to live out what we know.

How does David beat Goliath? By applying wisdom to the facts of war. Goliath shows up with armor and swords. David figures that if he puts on all this armor, he won’t be able to move, let alone win the battle, so he fights by using a slingshot. Focusing on where Goliath lacks the protective armor.

WELCOME TO DESTINATION DESTINY

Everyone sees things through the lens of their life span. How we perceive people or events will determine how we label them. The labels influence whether we trivialize or uplift them. We then value or devalue them by our actions.

The same sun that melts the wax also hardens the clay. And the same Gospel which melts some persons to repentance hardens others in their sins

          – Charles Spurgeon

Our Why

To provide the tools & processes that will help people in many walks of life discern the Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding  needed to reach their DESTINY on this journey called life.

Our How

Partnering with nonprofits, churches, parachurches,  businesses and multi-sector organizations to provide transformative experiences.

Our What

Our methods start with a model for crossing cultural, denominational, political, and racial boundaries to see the presence of God in everyone.

People make hundreds of decisions every day that have a multiplicative effect on their future. We disrupt the status quo by helping leaders identify and clarify the effect of those decisions.

Most students are gifted to achieve when properly guided and supported. We ensure that their understanding of peer pressure is grounded in exposures that develop their critical thinking skills. The key is to focus on a future larger than their school, block or community.

As imitators of Jesus, we will identify people according to how Jesus identified them, led by the gospel and not by worldviews or our inclinations. Jesus’ ministry has roots in grace expressed primarily through the quality of presence –  the way He chose to be present and engage in relationship building.

our Mission

OUR MISSION

The mission of Destination Destiny is to inspire you to live a life of virtue, excellence and the highest human good. Characterized by self-control, moderation, a deep awareness of one’s true self, and most importantly love of neighbor.    #ImpactDestiny

Real love, our love of God and our love of each other, involves a choice. Which, unfortunately,  includes the the choice to hate. The overwhelming majority of the pain in the world is caused by our choices to kill, to slander, to be selfish, to stray sexually, to break our promises, or to be reckless.

The uncommon love of the cross inspires the choice of love; creating space for grace toward all humankind.

our sponsors of disruption

OUR SPONSORS OF DISRUPTION
We often associate the word “disruptor” with someone “causing problems” when in reality disruptors are simply those who rebel against the “status quo” that has been established or allowed to persist or exist.

We recognize and thank our sponsors for helping to positively alter the way people think, behave, study, learn and make day-to-day choices. They have agreed to support our high-impact initiatives that are helping to address the core problems and challenges people face.

the new urban

THE  NEW URBAN AGENDA

With more than half of the world’s populations now living in cities, and urbanization occurring at unprecedented rates, there is an opportunity to rethink how organizations support everyday life. Destination Destiny’s New Urban Agenda offers a compelling vision for the future as theologically resilient, sustainable, and inclusive for urban practitioners. The agenda argues that relational activities should be people-centered, culturally contextualized, and support critical thinking that enables people to live compassionate, self-determined lives.

The political narratives overtaking our moral thinking, and political affiliations seem to be more of a test for orthodoxy than loving our neighbor. As adults, be aware of how these narratives unwittingly open the door to shape us more than the Bible. Politicians have become masterminds in creating polarizing content that serve the purpose in hitting the right emotional buttons to create chaos.

Succinctly stated, “No political party has the market cornered on Christian beliefs. Despite each side’s religious rhetoric, faith-based endorsements, and passionate attempts to secure Christian voters, neither has God’s best interests at heart.” Political parties are tasked with many things, but carrying out the Gospel isn’t one of them.

A new generation of people today share a commonality in mindset and mental complexity. They see the world through a common set of lenses. Ethnicity, religious affiliation, and location do not drive their choices as they did for past generations. Leaders who still focus on putting people in a box, marginalizing segments of the population, and trying to offer solutions without portfolio are no longer relevant in speaking to their needs.

At Destination Destiny, we believe that the root causes of the challenges people face are the same in rural, suburban, and urban environments. The difference is how they are labeled and the veracity of their accounts. More and more are becoming keenly aware of this. The symptoms may vary from community to community, but how we help people work through their challenges requires putting aside assumptions and preconceived notions to address the root cause of what is happening in their social location.

The New Urban simply put, it’s

  • a lifestyle that permeates all segments
  • non-geographical
  • 24-hour global, all encompassing and omnipresent media
  • multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-tasking, multi-media and multi-generational
  • both / and
  • a reframed narrative
  • a prism of parallel identity layers that all intersect
  • a digital natives lifestyle
  • the experience, expectations and engagement
  • Cosmopolitan meets the thug & Hip-Hop with a violin
  • The Kingdom party
